Subject: POS Login Failure Notification Improvements
Summary:    When logging into POS, if the Server name is incorrect, or if the database needs upgrading, the message is not clear.  There s also a "NULL exception" when the database needs upgrading due to configuration changes.

Development work for this case has been completed.

The change will be available in version: 12.2.1201 and 12.30.1201

1. The following changes were made(Include Database object names, Program classes and any other relevant information):

  1. When the application starts, we check the Server availability and we extract the Database configuration values. If either fails, we log the message and prompt the user with a message.
  2. The user is given the option to change the connection details

2. Affected Areas:

  1. POS Login

3. The issue was caused by:

  1. Remove Null exception when logging into POS where the DB needs to be upgraded

In the "Link Technologies - POS.exe.config" file set the database as "LINKSOFT-DEMO". 

Login to LinkPOS

  1. The user should not be able to log in as "LINKSOFT-DEMO" is invalid.
  2. The user should be prompted with a message.
  3. The user should be given the option to change settings
    1. Correct database to "LINKSOFT-DEMO-1221"

Login to LinkPOS

  1. The user should not be able to log in as "10.0.0.12" is invalid.
  2. The user should be prompted with a message.
  3. The user should be given the option to change settings
    1. Correct database to "10.0.0.13"
    2. Login 

Pass

  1. Database Connection Setting opens at login.
  2. Message - Unable to connect to the server details.
  3. At close, the message is updated to change settings
