Subject: "Customer Statement" takes long to generate in databases with large number of customers and transactional data
Summary:    

The issue has been reported by Tappoo Chemist.  

The below has been tested in version 12.42.056GA

Steps

  1. Generate the "Customer Statement" with the below filters:  
    1. Date From: 01/04/2021
    2. Date To: 30/04/2021
    3. Customer From: CU0000014048
    4. Customer To: CU0000014048
    5. Show Items: Y
    6. Statement Format: Running Total - Portrait
  2. Time Taken: 6 minutes
  3. Number of Pages: 10

PART A - Development work for this case has been completed.

1. The change will be available in version:12.43

2. The following changes were made(Include Database object names, Program classes, and any other relevant information):

  1. Refactored the reports data extraction function to filter customers based on the customer master file table instead of the transactional table.

3. Affected Areas:

  1. Customer Statement - Running Total

4. The issue was caused by:

  1. When records were filtered using the transactional table, the query optimizer was slow in extracting the data, however, changing the filter to use the customer master file has improved the performance of the query.
