The Point of Sale (POS) Prescription module within LinkSOFT is a dedicated component designed to manage the entire lifecycle of prescription and non-prescription medication sales. It provides a structured environment for pharmacists and cashiers to create, process, and track medication dispensing, ensuring accurate pricing, clear patient instructions, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This module streamlines the workflow from entry to final sale, integrating patient and product information for efficient management.
Prescription Entry and Item Management: Users can create new prescriptions and manage existing ones through the "Start Prescription Entry" feature. The module supports adding multiple medications to a single prescription, with improved navigation and editing capabilities. Users can also delete individual prescription items from the POS grid, which automatically voids the corresponding prescription line.
Mixture Creation: The system facilitates the creation of medication mixtures. Designating a product as "Mixture" and "Non Quantity Bearing" in the Inventory Product Master activates a "Mixture" button. Users can add medications, adjust quantities, and the "Total Quantity" and "Mixture Price" are automatically updated, with the unit price correctly updated upon saving.
Instruction and Doctor Management: Configurable messages and instructions (Base, Special, Care, and Warnings) are maintained in "Message Maintenance" and easily selected during prescription entry. A "Doctor Maintenance" feature allows for managing doctor details, which automatically populate in the prescription screen.
Pricing, Tax, and Fees: Prescription pricing incorporates cost, tax, and a configurable markup. It can use either a "Dispensary Markup %" or a "Price Structure Markup," with a "Charge Tax Prescription" option. Administration Fees are mandatory and managed within POS-WEB. Minimum profit percentages are validated for price changes, and while discounts are generally disallowed on admin fees, they can be applied to prescription items based on product settings.
Prescription Repeats and Tracking: The module effectively tracks prescription repeats. A "View Copies" button displays a list of all related prescriptions, detailing the reference, issue date, patient, and total value. When a prescription is copied for a repeat, the remaining repeat count automatically reduces by one, providing a clear history of dispensed medications.
Non-Prescription Labels: For over-the-counter medicines requiring instructions, the "Non Prescription Label" feature allows users to create, preview, and print labels. these include the medication name, usage instructions, expiry date, and price. Label numbers are system-generated upon saving.
Reporting and Customer Information: The "Prescription Listing" report offers a comprehensive view of all system prescriptions, with various filters. Receipts for prescription sales can display customer information, and display issues on reports and labels are addressed for accuracy. Relevant inventory information is also accessible within prescription entry and search forms.
Operational Considerations: Lay-by transactions are not supported for prescriptions due to their distinct pricing and discounting rules. Parking transactions with prescription items is disallowed; items must be removed from the POS grid before parking a sale with other items.
